Seasons Greetings!

NEWS!

I'm so excited to be sharing this fun with all of you! So what's up this month? I have sent out my queries to the agents. YAY!!! Now the waiting game begins.
In the meantime I'm plotting out my next book and looking at my two contemporary stories already 'done' for strength's and weaknesses. Its amazing to look at them with fresh eyes and see things I didn't before. I truly believe they are growing right along with me.
On other things, I'm learning all I can about this industry, including the marketing end of things. Hopefully saving myself the angst of trying to figure it all out when I'll have a 'real' deadline looming before me. ;)
Thanks to all of you who have joined me in this venture!

Journey - A Writer's Club

So what is this club? Formally its -- A place for writers to gather together. To show support, declare their intended journey's, and relate the changes in those paths as they evolve. Its a place to challenge one another and one's self. A place of fellowship.
Informally, its a place for writers at all stages of the game to connect, learn from one another and grow as a whole. Not on just any one aspect of this journey we share as writers but on the entire gamete that make us who we are -- from writing that first word, to submitting, getting published, and to taking care of ourselves.

This is a group I'm just starting! Check it out -- I'd love to have you join me! You can join directly here or check out the Welcome page first then join!

Games!

For fun this month I thought you might like to try out the internet game I sometimes play before I begin to write. Bejeweled 2! Just be careful you don't get caught playing it for hours! :)

Interview Highlight -- Emma Sinclair!
Erotic Romance Author

How long have you been writing?
I think I've been writing for about three years (maybe four?) That's a hard question anymore, lol. I know it was a New Years Resolution that I was going to start writing seriously -- how about that, one I actually kept. So I think I'll be starting my fourth full year in 2007.

When and what was your first publication? And just for fun -- can you tell us what it was like getting that first contract? (i.e. Did you scream )
My first publication was A Walk on the Wild Side, released in November 2005 by Whiskey Creek Press Torrid. I was home alone at the time, but I was getting ready to head off to my RWA chapter meeting. I don't know if there was any squealing, but I think I called my husband. It was great to be able to celebrate with my romance writing buddies so soon after I got "the email" though!

Are you where you want to be in your writing career, either through the types of stories you want to be writing, for whom or maybe in the sense of financial success?
Well, I certainly wouldn't complain if I was the next Nora Roberts, lol.

But I am enjoying the stories I'm writing (well, except for the middle part of every book I write where I hate everything about writing). I think that this time of year is a time of reflection and planning for the next year so I am trying to decide what I'd like to accomplish next year and what kinds of things I'd like to change.

I haven't come to any conclusions yet, though.

But I love my publishers, I love my readers, and I love (for the most part) what I'm writing. So I guess I am where I want to be in my writing career.

As a fan of your books I'm curious -- do you have any books which have recently been released or are about to be released which your really excited about? And could you tell us a little about them?
Fighting Fate was recently released from Liquid Silver Books. It's the third in my Fate trilogy, which was HARD to write. I love Atty and Cole, but it was really hard for me to leave the whole Moraie family behind (though look for a Valentines free read featuring the family, hint, hint - and if I say it here, that means I have to actually do it).

My other recent release which I'm excited about is Commuting, it's a Sexy Confession to Venus, released from Venus Press. One, I love the Sexy Confession line, they're short, not so sweet stories that can be read in a matter of minutes and cost under $2!! And Commuting was really fun to write.

But mostly what I love about it is the cover!! It was designed by my fabulous editor Tracey!!

One more question before I thank you for your time and your wonderful answers - Do you have any advice or thoughts you'd like to share with as of yet unpublished writers?
Hmm, thoughts or advice makes it sound like I know what I'm doing, and there are some days that I really don't think I do.

But for real, I think what's helped me the most are the groups I've joined. My old land based RWA chapter (Maryland Romance Writers) was great! And the online friends I've made through various groups and loops and chats and whatever...well, I don't think I could do without them at this point!!

The romance community is so giving of their time and knowledge, I love it when I have a question, I can post it somewhere on line and have dozens of different opinions, sometimes in a matter of minutes!

Thank you Emma for being my first interviewee! You can find out more about Emma Sinclair, see the rest of her books or place an order at her website!

Happy Holidays Everyone! Nicole Reising

Contest

Ok, because this is the Holiday Season and because this was my very first official newsletter, I wanted to do something special -- have a contest! YAY! All you have to do is email me with Emma Sinclair's title of her latest Venus Press release and your name will be entered in the drawing to be held on the 31st of December! How simple is that! You could be starting off the new year with a brand new e-book to read!
FYI: I also wanted to let everyone know, I will work with whomever wins to get them the book of their preference. I realize I have quite the range of tastes here from Christian to erotic. So please don't hold back entering the contest thinking your stuck with a book you don't want! Just let me know your preference when you enter!

sidenote: For any future contests -- authors wanting to do a little promo, drop me a line and we'll set up a contest!
